Zendikar: More on the “Candelabra of Tawnos Incident.”

We’ve been burning the midnight oil, Evan Erwin is also working late tonight and was gracious enough to reply immediately to our request for information about what could be called the “ Candelabra of Tawnos Incident.” And now, in his own words:

Hi Kasandra, here’s a statement you can use:

I spoke with someone at Kidforce Collectibles on Thursday evening who
claimed to have opened a Candelabra of Tawnos in a random Zendikar
pack.

The employee explained that he had eight packs left over from the
upcoming weekend’s prize support, and decided to open them. In one of
the packs, in the place of where the basic land would normally be was
an upside down near mint Candelabra of Tawnos.

He indicated to me that it was most certainly a -repackaged-
Candelabra and NOT a new printing. In other words, it appears that it
was from Wizards’ vault and NOT from new card stock.

Reports have included an Ancestral Recall, but I can’t substantiate that.

I will say that it has been confirmed to me by various sources, both
privately and publicly, such as Patrick Chapin’s twitter (@thepchapin)
consisting only of “It’s real.”

I’ve also heard reports that this is ONLY in the first printing of the
set, so get those boxes while you still can.

Thanks

Evan

Again, our thanks to Evan Erwin for his prompt and forthright recounting of the “incident” that has the Magic Webs a-buzzing. The Red Zone will continue to report developments on this and all things relating to the Zendikar pre-release, so stay tuned!

Editor’s Note: Kasandra has done all of the legwork on this, but she has to work tomorrow so she passed along the reply so I could get the story out tonight. Kudo’s go to her, and again our thanks to Evan Erwin

About Tim Boothby

Tim Boothby is a fan from the old school, he was hooked on Tolkien, Verne, Wells, Clarke and a huge list of others from the time he started reading. He's equally old school about gaming, starting back to when the D&D books were mostly faded mimeograph pages that smelled funny and stained your fingers when you held them and the standard dice exploded when you threw them at the wall. Since then he’s played more than 30 Role Playing Games and designed a few himself. He combined his love of classic science-fiction, fantasy, gaming with his appreciation of the internet and (occasionally questionable) journalistic skills to build a small network of gaming-related sites: The Fantasy Artists, Role-Players and Writer’s Guild, Scribe of the Realm and co-founded Red Zone Fandom.
